Here are some tips to help you achieve better search results.
Choose Words Carefully
Use specific words to describe exactly what you are searching for. General
terms yield too many results, so try to narrow your search. For example, if you
were searching for the artwork of a given artist, "Artwork of Janice
Northcutt Huse" would be better than "art". Also, remember some
words have more than one meaning. For instance, if you are looking for
information on an artist, you might want to specify "performing" or
"visual." Please note that, by default, our search returns sites that include any of your search
terms.
Exact Search
To search for an exact phrase, put quotation marks
around the keyword(s). For example: "John 3:16"
Including Words
By default, our search returns sites that include any of your search
terms. The exception is very common words such as "it" and
"how." These appear in so many places, they usually won't improve your
results. To illustrate, the following keyword searches will return the exact
same results:
Excluding Words
To exclude words, you may use a minus sign or the word
"NOT." No sites containing those words will show up in your results.
For example, if you want to see website about prophets with no mention of Amos:
Either/Or
If you're equally interested in two or more alternatives, you may explicity use "OR." For example: Jesus OR Savior OR Messiah.
However, this is not necessary since, by default, our search returns sites that include any of your search terms.
Wildcard
You may also search using the asterisk as a wildcard character.
For example, a keyword search of "Christ*" will return Christ, Christian, Christians, Christianity, Christening, etc.
